10 Unique homes available this fall in Massachusetts
I wanted to look at houses without any of my usual agenda- not for my buyers, not for investors, not for price assessments.
Just for myself; just for the fun of it.
To spend time more meaningfully, I decided to embark on a task. I’d curate a list of 10 most unique homes in Massachusetts!
From the north in Salisbury to south in Mattapoisett and west in Amherst, here’s a list of my favorite, most unique homes. Mind you, I had a hard time narrowing these down from an initial list of 18 because I loved them all. Ha!
So! Enough with the 10 most expensive homes in Boston; let’s see what the rest of Massachusetts has to offer.
Drumroll please.
#10
413 North End Blvd, Salisbury
I have a soft spot for triangular homes so my heart did a little flip when I saw this one. I don’t care that this house is a couple of streets away from the beach; it’s conceptually spot on! I love the wrap around deck and could just imagine reading a book on one the little private balconies.
413 N End Blvd, Salisbury | $699,900

0 Wildflower Dr, Amherst
Have you heard of a Japanese contemporary? Neither have I.
“The spatial arrangement in relation to the flow of energy creates the perfect Feng Shui design that features a Japanese Garden in the Center of the home surrounded by all rooms that have picturesque views through the center garden to perfectly situated windows creating an artistic painting of the outside landscape.”, says the Listing Agent.

#8
107 Main St, Hingham
Formerly used as the Parish House of Hingham’s Old Ship Church! Maybe it’s in knowing its history and purpose, maybe it’s in the muted colors, or high ceiling and large windows pairing… there’s a certain serenity in this place.
107 Main Street, Hingham | $2,900,000

17A Oak Ridge Dr, Charlton
Coming in at 256sqf (23.7 square meters), this is about having a tiny house with big views. If you could live like this, congratulations, you have no need, you have no want, and you have obviously attained nirvana.
17A Oak Ridge Dr, Charlton | $199,000

326 Highland Ave, Winchester
When I see a house like this, I immediately think “potential”. Notice the intricate details, the hand milled woodwork, then imagine a time when this house was at its full glory. I bet its beauty was staggering. This craftsmen style home is looking for someone with a vision and serious talent for restoration.
326 Highland Ave, Winchester | $1,850,000

17 Bellevue St, Newton
Carriage houses were built back in the days where people had horse-drawn carriages, so you could imagine my surprise in spotting this listing which states that this is a 2017 construction. Modern history buffs rejoice; this is best of old and new! I love that there’re distinct characteristics incorporated, like the wide entrance and the stone cellar.
17 Bellevue St, Newton | $3,299,000

#4
329 Essex Street, Salem
Victorian; circa1871; the building’s facade is by itself a dramatic statement. And to top it off, there’s that incredible restoration work done to the interior. If Green Book were to be film in Massachusetts, this would be the perfect set to the pianist Don Shirley’s (played by Mahershala Ali) residence, don’t you think?
329 Essex Street, Salem | $1,395,000

23 Grandview Ave, Mattapoisett
It isn’t enough that this spot is an ocean front; no, this house is elevated to get even better views! It reminds me of days past where I was a child and would would beg my parents to hoist me up for the same. Who needs a trip to Martha’s Vineyard when you’ve got 24/7 ocean access and picturesque views of sail boats?

75 Clifton Ave, Marblehead
Commute 15 miles from Boston city and be transported to a fairytale past. Unlike 17 Bellevue St (#5) in Newton which is a replica of a carriage house, this one is actually one complete with original horse stalls. Symmetrical towers, circular driveway for a horse drawn carriage, window above the entrance as a murder hole to drop projectiles or other items onto the besiegers, I mean, this is where dreams come true.
75 Clifton Ave, Marblehead | $1,295,000

#1
13 Baker St, Foxboro
This Carpenter Gothic Home, also known locally as the Gingerbread House, is the epitome of “don’t judge a book by its cover”… or a house by its facade. You’d think that with its dark gloomy exteriors this house would be the perfect setting for a horror movie, but it can’t be further from the truth. Feast your eyes on these photos, appreciate the preservation of period details, the choice of wallpaper, draping, and wonder which genius was in-charge of its renovation back in 2003, because that person needs to win a Nobel prize. Complete with glass vaulted conservatory, private grounds and heated saline in-ground pool.
This house is DOPE!
13 Baker Street, Foxboro | $750,000

And that rounds up my top 10 unique homes in Massachusetts! If you’re reading this, I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed creating this post. This has been super fun; I might just do one every quarter!
